Today, I will introduce the construction of NewClass Smart Language Laboratory in Beijing Language and Culture University.

The classroom in the figure was designed and constructed by Beijing NewClass Digital Technology Co., Ltd. in 2019. As a partner of language laboratory equipment in Beijing Language and Culture University for 15 years, in conjunction with the plan of the Educational Technology and Resource Management Center, we deploy the latest research and development result: NewClass Smart Language Learning System into a completely new classroom.

“Language learning software is the core of the smart language laboratory, including group discussion, individual intercom, recording, broadcasting, simultaneous interpretation training, demonstration speech, monitoring, player, learning material distribution, visual intercom and other functions...” - The teacher in charge of this project wrote in the Research on the Architecture Design of the Smart Language Laboratory. The above functions are practical functions determined by the Beijing Language and Culture University’s Educational Technology and Resource Management Center after conducting a targeted questionnaire survey before designing the project architecture. The survey objects are more than one hundred teachers who use the language laboratory to teach. For group discussions, the article describes that “during group discussions, conversations of each group will be recorded. You can record the communication details of the discussion group, or broadcast the recording to the students in the class, or save the recording for self-examination after class.” It is specially mentioned in the article that “students are grouped; with visual intercom function, students can see the members of other groups, and one group can be demonstrated to all students, or the visual communication process of the group can be videotaped; compared with traditional recording function, visual intercom can add expressions, gestures and other forms of information in group discussions, which promotes the development of situated learning.”
