In January 2020, Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation, SISU built two NewClass simultaneous interpretation training rooms, which are designed for small class teaching of Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation. The class can accommodate 10 students at most to ensure that teachers can fully guide every student.

There are 10 seats in the middle of the classroom, which will be used as student seats when the teacher gives lessons and used as representative seats when simulating the conference interpretation. There are 4 interpreter rooms symmetrically arranged at the back of the classroom. Each interpreter room is equipped with standard double interpreter seats for students to carry out mock meetings according to the format of international simultaneous interpretation conference. This kind of normalized immersive teaching and training can optimize the learning experience and cultivate the practical ability of the students.

The classroom is planned to be used for small-class teaching of simultaneous interpretation courses in English and minor languages. It can also be used for course recording and broadcasting and various types of examinations. The classroom’s NewClass simultaneous interpretation training system uses a touch integrated terminal with distinctive features, a quad-core high-speed ARM processor, PoE power supply, professional simultaneous interpretation operation push buttons, and a 10.1-inch flip-type touch screen instead of keyboard and mouse, leaving students with bigger desktop space to facilitate them to complete shorthand and paper-based question answering, so that the practicability is enhanced.

With more than ten years of school-enterprise cooperation, NewClass has been cooperating with Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation, SISU to make multi-faceted informatization teaching attempts in industry-university-research, and make progress together.
