Founded in 1898, Peking University is one of China's most prestigious universities. The School of Foreign Languages at Peking University has been an integral part of the university’s development over the past century and plays a key role in the humanities.
For more than 10 years, Beijing Newclass Digital Technology Co., Ltd. has been providing educational services to the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University, with NewClass continuously innovating alongside its language teaching programs.

In 2007, the first NewClass simultaneous interpreting classroom, built by NewClass, was officially launched at the School of Foreign Languages, with an inauguration ceremony held on-site. Since then, NewClass has been a constant companion to the school’s language education.

In 2015, when the School of Foreign Languages moved to a new location, the simultaneous interpreting classroom was expanded to include 10 interpreter booths. The room now accommodates the daily teaching and examination tasks of both the English and Japanese translation master’s programs (MTI), meeting needs of simultaneous interpreting courses and small to medium-sized multilingual conferences.

In 2024, the school carefully planned and designed a new NewClass simultaneous interpreting classroom, using the latest NewClass touch-integrated terminals to build the simultaneous interpreting training system. The completed classroom simulates an international conference environment, featuring 20 representative seats and 10 double booths for interpreters, designed for multiple uses. The room continues to serve teaching tasks, such as courses on "Simultaneous interpreting Theory and Techniques" and "Basic Interpreting". To meet future educational needs, the classroom is equipped with the NewClass remote teaching system, supporting high-quality, multi-space teaching and training models. This system provides diverse online and offline hybrid learning scenarios, creating an immersive learning experience free from the limitations of physical space.
